IES Abroad American University – Rome

“In a low budget project on the Lungotevere Tor di Nona designed for an American university’s Rome campus, we wanted to play with the disconnect between the rigor of an educational building and American Pop Art, working mainly with bold colors and carefully measured elements of contrasting plasticity, limited only at precise points of intersection..”

Making of the new headquarters of the IES Abroad. New educational areas, faculty offices, classrooms and workshops for more than 700 students realized in a building dating back to the ’20s in the center of Rome, sited in front of Castel Sant’Angelo. The design is focused on a low cost renovation of the ancient structures, obtaining high standards for accessibility and the building management.
